Gabe Willhite serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of American Healthcare REIT, where he oversees the company’s operating platform, including its operator relationships and strategic asset management. He previously served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer and, before that, as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, having joined the company’s predecessor in 2016 as Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel – Transactions.

Prior to joining the company, Willhite served as legal counsel for Sabal Financial Group, L.P., a Newport Beach, California-based real estate and finance company and subsidiary of Oaktree Capital Management, from 2012 to 2016. There he was responsible for overseeing portfolio acquisitions, financings, joint ventures, dispositions and strategic workout transactions. He began his career as an associate in the transactional practice group of Greenberg Traurig, LLP in Irvine, California.

Willhite earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and communication from the University of Southern California and a juris doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
